Homes

Home window tinting in Joondalup

Joondalup's newer estates share a particular problem: large glass areas and shallow eaves. That combination puts afternoon sun straight into living areas from about three o'clock, and it's why most calls we take from up here are about one or two rooms rather than a whole house.

Estates around Edgewater, Iluka, Burns Beach and Ocean Reef tend toward floor-to-ceiling glazing and alfresco sliders, often facing west across a small block with nothing to shade them. For those we usually recommend a spectrally selective or ceramic film — high heat rejection with very little change to how the room looks, so you keep the light and lose the heat.

Older brick-and-tile homes closer to the town centre are a different case. Smaller windows, deeper eaves, and often only two or three problem rooms. We'll tell you if that's your situation rather than quote the whole house, because treating glass that isn't causing trouble is money that does nothing.

Which windows actually need it

West and north-facing glass with a long afternoon exposure is where film pays for itself. South-facing windows in Perth get very little direct sun, and glass already shaded by a verandah or an established tree usually doesn't warrant treatment. Most Joondalup homes we quote end up with four to ten windows done.

Business

Office and commercial tinting in Joondalup

We fit commercial film across the Joondalup business district, the health and education precinct, and the offices and consulting suites around Grand Boulevard and Shenton Avenue.

Medical and allied health suites are the most common commercial job we do up here, and the brief is almost always the same: cut glare on screens in consulting rooms and reception without making the space feel dim. That's a neutral solar film rather than anything dark. Waiting rooms with street-facing glass sometimes want a privacy or frosted film band as well.

For retail along Grand Boulevard and the surrounding centres, the two questions are usually heat through the shopfront and protection of the glass itself. Anti-graffiti film handles the second — it's a sacrificial layer replaced far more cheaply than a shopfront pane.

Scheduling around trading

Commercial work can be done after hours or over a weekend. We section off areas and complete them one at a time rather than taking a whole floor out of use, and rooms are usable immediately afterwards while the film cures. See office window tinting for the full range.

Cars

Looking to tint a car?

If you're looking to tint a car, give us a call or drop in. All our automotive work is done at our own workshop at 4/53 May Holman Drive, Bassendean — we don't tint cars on site.

That's a deliberate choice rather than a gap. Window film fails for three reasons, and all three are about the environment it's fitted in: dust settling under the film during application, the temperature while the adhesive sets, and surface preparation being rushed. A single speck of dust under film is a permanent bubble that can't be fixed later without redoing the window.

None of that can be controlled properly in a driveway or a car park. It's the same reason panel shops don't spray cars in the open.

From Joondalup the workshop is a straightforward run down the Mitchell Freeway and across through Bassendean. Most cars take two to four hours, so it's a drop-off-and-collect job for most people. Ring us with your make, model and year and we'll quote it over the phone.

Everything is fitted within Western Australia's legal limits — at least 35% VLT on windows forward of the B pillar, and no darker than 20% behind it, measured through the glass and the film together. Full detail on our car window tinting page.

Choosing

Which film for which problem?

Start with what's actually bothering you rather than with a product name.

The problem What we'd usually fit
Living area unusable after 3pm Ceramic or spectrally selective solar film on the west and north glass
Glare on screens at home or in a consulting room Neutral solar film — cuts glare without darkening the space
Overlooked by a neighbouring block, daytime Reflective privacy film
Bathroom, ensuite or street-facing glass, all hours Frosted film, which works day and night
Timber floors or rugs fading Any quality solar film — UV rejection is high across the range
Shopfront being tagged or scratched Anti-graffiti film
Car cabin too hot in summer Car tinting at the Bassendean workshop

How it works

How a Joondalup job runs

  1. Free on-site quote

We come to you, measure every window, check which way each room faces, and show you film samples against your own glass in your own light.

  2. Written quote

Itemised room by room with the film named. Treat everything, or just the windows causing trouble.

  3. Installation

Most homes are done in a day. Floors and furniture protected, and we clean up before we leave.

  4. Handover

Care instructions and warranty paperwork. Leave the glass a few days to cure, then clean normally.

Looking after it

Give the film a few days to cure before cleaning. After that it's a soft cloth and mild soapy water — avoid ammonia-based glass cleaners, which break film down over time, and don't use anything abrasive on the surface.

Questions

Joondalup questions

Do you charge extra to come to Joondalup?

No. Joondalup and the northern suburbs are inside our standard service area, so there's no travel surcharge on residential or commercial quotes.

Do you tint cars in Joondalup?

Not on site. All automotive work is done at our enclosed workshop in Bassendean, because dust and temperature during application are what cause bubbling and peeling. You're welcome to call or drop in — most cars take two to four hours.

Can you tint upstairs windows?

Yes. Two-storey installations are routine and the access equipment comes as part of the job. Plenty of the newer Joondalup estates are double-storey, so it's most of what we do up there.

Will tinting make my rooms dark?

Not if the right film is chosen. Spectrally selective and ceramic films block heat while staying close to clear. If keeping the light matters, say so at the quote and we'll bring samples to compare side by side.

How soon can I clean the windows?

Leave them a few days while the adhesive cures, then use a soft cloth and mild soapy water. No ammonia-based cleaners.
