The work
What commercial window tinting solves
Most commercial enquiries come down to one of four problems: a floor that's too hot, screens nobody can read, glass people can see straight through, or glass that needs to hold together if it's hit. Different films solve each one, and they aren't interchangeable.
Heat and cooling load
Solar film reduces the energy passing through the glass before it becomes heat inside, taking load off the HVAC rather than asking it to catch up. West-facing floors and full-height glazing benefit most.
Glare on screens
The complaint that generates the most internal noise. Neutral solar film cuts glare without darkening the floor, which matters where staff sit near windows all day.
Privacy and sightlines
Daytime privacy film for ground-floor and street-facing glass. Frosted and gradient film for meeting rooms and partitions where privacy needs to work around the clock.
Security and safety film
A different product with a different purpose. Security film bonds glass together when it breaks, so a pane that's struck holds in the frame rather than falling. That slows forced entry and reduces injury risk from flying glass. It's thicker than solar film, priced differently, and specified by thickness rather than by tint level.
For street-facing retail glass, anti-graffiti film is often the more relevant product — a sacrificial layer that takes the etching or tagging instead of the glass underneath, and costs a fraction of replacing a shopfront pane.
Cost & quoting
How commercial window tinting is quoted
Commercial film is priced per square metre of glass, quoted after a free site assessment. We don't publish a commercial price list, because a ground-floor shopfront and a tenth-floor curtain wall are not the same job even at identical square metreage.
Four things determine a commercial quote:
- Total glass area. Larger jobs come down on a per-square-metre basis.
- Film specification. Standard solar, ceramic and security films sit at genuinely different price points.
- Access. Ground-floor internal glass is straightforward. Upper-level and external work needs equipment, and sometimes traffic management or a permit.
- Scheduling. Work inside trading hours is cheaper than after-hours, but after-hours is usually what a business actually wants.
You'll get an itemised written quote before anything starts — broken down by area and film type, so you can stage the work if the whole building isn't in this year's budget. Staging is common and we'd rather do it properly over two years than badly in one.

One thing worth knowing about ceramic
Metallic films can interfere with wireless signal. Ceramic films contain no metal, so they don't affect Wi-Fi, mobile reception or building systems. In an office that's usually reason enough to specify ceramic over metallic, regardless of the heat numbers.

After hours if you need it
Evening and weekend installation is available and common on commercial jobs. It's the usual choice for occupied offices and trading retail.
Rooms stay usable
Film cures over the following days but the space is back in service immediately. There's no lockout period.

What you get afterwards
Every installation carries a manufacturer backed lifetime warranty, covering bubbling, peeling and discolouration.
The film is warranted by the manufacturer; the workmanship is ours. Ask which warranty applies to the film being specified for your building before you sign — it varies by product, and any installer worth using can answer it clearly.
Looking after commercial film
Brief your cleaners, because this is where most avoidable damage comes from. Warm water and a drop of mild detergent with a soft microfibre cloth is all that's needed. No ammonia, no vinegar, no abrasive pads — ammonia in particular breaks down film adhesive over time, and it's in a lot of standard glass cleaners.
When film needs replacing
Commercial film doesn't last forever. The signs it's near the end are consistent: bubbling or lifting at the edges, a purple or brown shift in colour, and noticeably more heat and glare than it used to let through. Purple discolouration in particular is UV degradation, and once it starts it doesn't reverse.
